We aim to complete:
Full Grooms 1-3 hours
Bath and Tidy's 1-2 hours
Baths 30mins-2 hours
Giant Breeds 2-3 hours
We try our best to estimate the amount of time it will take to complete each individual, as we know everyone has busy schedules! Poor coat condition, behavior, and just natural busyness of the day can all effect groom times. Due to the unpredictability of the day, we ask clients to please wait for the salon to notify you when your pet is ready to ensure safety. Walking in too soon can cause excitement and could prevent completion of the groom.
Every 4-6 weeks is the average for most breeds. If you desire your dog to have a long coat you will need to bring them to a groomer more often to prevent matting or excess undercoat. Keep in mind you will need to maintain the dog's coat at home as well based on the breed. Generally the shorter the coat the less maintenance you will have to keep up with. For many double coated dogs they will fully blow their undercoat 2x a year and the excess undercoat will need removed. Packed undercoats can cause your dog's to become very hot and uncomfortable.
Doodles:
With such a wide variety of coat types and mixtures we recommend you talk to your groomer about what is best specifically to your dog and lifestyle.
To maintain proper position of the foot and skeletal makeup nails should be trimmed on a monthly basis. Now, all individuals are different and this frequency can depend on many factors like activity and health. We stress the importance of nail trims to prevent pain. When nails are left to overgrow it can change the structure of the foot, causing back issues and in some cases nails can grow into the paw pad causing severe pain and trauma for your pet. (this includes both dogs, cats and other small mammals)
The earlier the better! Grooming is an entirely new experience to them. It will involve lots of new sights, scents, and noises. It is vital to introduce your puppy to this experience especially if your fur baby will need grooming regularly. Puppy's will go through a coat change anywhere from 9-18 months. We are happy to give insight on what the best grooming schedule would be specifically to your pup!
We encourage our pet parents to do their research before requesting this type of service. Areas like the feet, feathering, tail, and ears generally will not be effected. Trimming any length off a double coated breed disrupts the natural cycle. This can cause impacted undercoat, dry brittle coat, and alopecia. Your dog's coat will not be able to do it's job in the heat or cold and may never come back the same. If the undercoat is properly removed during a groom it will help thicker coated dogs in the summer and actually keeps them cooler.
